TIFFIN, Ohio - The Yellow Jackets built a ten-run lead and then withstood a furious comeback by Tiffin to post a 13-12 win in the second game of a G-MAC doubleheader at Heminger Field.
The host Dragons scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to stun Cedarville, 14-13, in the first game.
After being suspended by darkness, the two teams resumed the contest on Saturday with the last frame of the seven-inning affair to play.
An eight-run fifth inning had given the visitors a 13-3 cushion. TU scored three runs in the fifth, two in the sixth, and four times in the seventh plus had runners at second and third when the game ended.
Kale Ebling crushed a three-run homer and scored three runs.
Lucas Rotello went 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored, and three RBIs.
Starting pitcher
Jensen Wagoner, 1-3, got the win with a career-high eight strikeouts.
Nathaniel Adkins locked up his first career save.
In the opener, Rotello went 4-for-6 with a double, two runs scored, and four RBIs. Ebling scored twice with three RBIs on his 4-for-5 effort.
Boston Torres doubled twice and scored four runs while
Eli Henderson and
Alex Neff added two hits apiece.
