BUCKHANNON, W.Va. - Cedarville came up short in a non-conference women's tennis match at West Virginia Wesleyan by a 5-2 decision.

The contest was staged at the Wood Street Tennis Courts.

The Lady Jackets secured two singles victories but could not overcome the host Bobcats, who opened their season with the win. Cedarville moved to 1–2 overall.

- Cedarville earned points at the No. 2 and No. 4 singles positions.
- Delia Guzic battled to a straight-sets victory at No. 2 singles, 6–4, 6–3.
- Mariana Philipps added another win for the Lady Jackets, cruising 6–2, 6–1 at No. 4.
- In doubles, the duo of Diana Ivanikhina and Paula Curci Micieli produced a 6–2 triumph at the No. 2 court to give Cedarville its lone doubles win of the day.
 It was the season opener for WVW. Cedarville, 1-2, heads to Salem for a Saturday morning encounter.
