CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Yellow Jackets clamped down on Ashland, 74-62, to halt a five-game skid in a G-MAC battle at the Callan Athletic Center.
Anthony Ruffolo scored 19 points and
Jaylen Davis added 16 for Cedarville, 10-13 overall and 5-10 G-MAC.
The Eagles, 17-7 and 11-5 G-MAC, came to campus riding a five-game winning streak and in second place in the standings.
The Jackets turned things around after getting dominated at Ashland in January. This time, they led for nearly 27 minutes with a margin as big as 19 points.
A 12-point run sparked a 38-29 lead by halftime. The hosts inflated the bulge to 16 early in the second period and kept the difference in double digits the rest of the way.
Stinger Notes:
- Sam Johnson totaled nine points, ten rebounds, three assists, and three blocks
- Ethan Sellars netted nine points with a team-leading four assists
- Jonathan Whiteside muscled in seven points with eight rebounds.
- CU knocked down 22-of-30 free throws including 15-of-18 (.833) in the second half.
- After shooting 60 percent from the field in the first meeting, the Eagles were held to 41 percent this time.
- The Jackets have beaten Ashland at home four consecutive times.
