CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Ashland stiffened its defense when it counted most and held on for a 59-56 G-MAC win over Cedarville at the Callan Athletic Center.
The Lady Jackets had two possessions in the final 20 seconds to get off a potential game-tying three-pointer, but the four-time defending league champs forced a turnover each time.
CU trailed by as many as 11 points in the first half and clawed back to get within one on four occasions in the fourth quarter.
Emma Kay Martin produced a game-high 16 points for Cedarville, 8-15 overall and 3-12 G-MAC.
Chloe Downing scored 15 points with seven rebounds and
Regan Hubert chipped in 11 points.
