Hall of Famer Kelsey Carter returns as assistant coach

CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Kelsey Carter, regarded as one of the best players in Lady Jacket volleyball history, has been hired as assistant coach.
 
She comes to Cedarville after serving the previous two years as athletic director and head varsity volleyball coach at Calvary Christian School in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
 
Kelsey (Jones) Carter produced a record-setting career for the Jackets from 2002 through 2005 which eventually landed her a spot in the Cedarville University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2021.
 
Carter was named the 2004 NCCAA National Player of the Year and was a three-time All-American. She was selected to the 2005 NAIA All-America Second Team.
 
She remains the program's all-time leader in four statistical categories including career assists (6,662) and average (11.07).
 
Carter still holds the NAIA national record for most assists in a season when she piled up 2,403 in 2004. She owns the top three single-season assist averages in school history.
 
CU rolled to an overall record of 148-47 (.759) during her career with two trips to the NAIA National Tournament, the 2005 NCCAA national title, two NAIA Region IX trophies, and two conference championships.
 
Carter possesses 20 years of volleyball coaching experience. She has been a teacher and head varsity coach at Traders Point Christian School in Whitestown, Indiana (2022-24); Greenon High School (2019-20); and Cedarville High School (2008-19).
 
She also served as a graduate assistant at Palm Beach Atlantic University (2006-07) where she earned a master's in organizational leadership.
 
Carter is a 2006 graduate of Cedarville University with a degree in multi-age physical education. Kelsey and her husband, J.P., reside in Cedarville with their two daughters.
