FAIRBORN, Ohio –
Brady Johnson and
Yonis Velasquez-Quezada each scored twice as Cedarville overwhelmed Ashland, 4-1, in G-MAC action on Saturday.
Velasquez-Quezada opened the scoring in the 30th minute, converting a free kick from just beyond the 18 yard box to give the Yellow Jackets a 1-0 lead heading into the break.
Cedarville broke the match open with three quick goals early in the second half. Johnson scored a chip shot in the 56th minute off assists from
Bryan Cortina and
Eddie Merck before striking again minutes later with Merck and
Hayden Hoxie providing the service.
Velasquez-Quezada completed his brace less than a minute later from the penalty spot to give the Yellow Jackets a commanding 4-0 advantage.
CU finished with a 15-9 edge in shots and put eight attempts on goal. Velasquez-Quezada led the way with four shots while Johnson put all three of his attempts on target.
Toby Edwards made six saves in goal before Ashland broke up the shutout in the 89th minute.
