ASHLAND, Ohio –
Eddie Merck scored both goals as Cedarville picked up a 2-1 G-MAC road victory over Ashland on Saturday at Ferguson Field.
The Yellow Jackets struck first in the 25th minute when Merck found the net off assists from
Austin Robertson and
Augie Jacus. Cedarville carried the 1-0 advantage into halftime despite Ashland holding a 5-3 edge in shots.
The Eagles equalized in the 58th minute, but Cedarville needed less than two minutes to respond. Merck restored the lead at 59:13 with his second goal of the game with
Bryan Cortina Parker Burke providing the assists.
Cedarville generated seven shots in the second half and finished with a 10-9 advantage overall.
Yonis Velasquez-Quezada led the attack with five attempts, including three on goal, while Merck put both of his shots on target.
Eben Dewhurst went the distance in goal and made one save to secure the victory.
The Yellow Jackets are 4-5-1 overall and 4-2-0 in G-MAC play. Their next game is Thursday at Lake Erie.
