ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Maryville scored twice in the second half to hand Cedarville a 2-0 non-conference setback on Saturday.
The Yellow Jackets nearly struck first in the 25th minute when Yonis Velasquez-Quezada rattled an attempt off the crossbar. The teams went to halftime scoreless with Maryville holding a 6-3 advantage in shots.
Cedarville increased the pressure after the break, producing eight shots and four corner kicks. Landon Nates put an attempt on goal in the 56th minute before Maryville broke the deadlock three minutes later.
The Saints doubled their lead in the 70th minute. Cedarville continued to press forward as the match entered its late stages, but were unable to convert any attempts on goal. Velasquez-Quezada led CU with three shots, while Zac Ladas and
Pablo Novás Cortiñas added two apiece. Goal Keeper

Cedarville fought Maryville to a near dead heat statistically finishing even with 11 total shots and four shots on goal each.
The Yellow Jackets fall to 0-3-1 on the season. They will return home for their next match against Ohio Dominican on Thursday to start G-MAC play.
