The Don Callan Classic is named in honor of Cedarville University's Hall of Fame men's basketball coach. This is the inaugural event.
When Callan retired as the Yellow Jacket head coach in 1995, after serving in that capacity for 35 years, he was the third-winningest active coach in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). He finished his career ranked 19th all-time in the NAIA with 578 victories.
Callan was inducted into the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame on May 19, 2012. He is also a charter member of the Cedarville University Athletic Hall of Fame as well as a member of the NAIA, NCCAA, and Taylor University Halls of Fame.
