Nov. 23, 2015This morning my Theology professor ended class by asking us the question, "If you were to lose everything you haven’t thanked God for this month, what would you be left with?" It allowed me to ponder the things we don’t often thank God for. As a team this past weekend, we sat in a circle and shared what we were most thankful for. Most of us had answers like family, friends, the team, but a few girls (including myself) were thankful for our struggles. Our rationale behind this is that without trials, our learning curve is not as steep. Through difficult times God seems to speak to us in a much more direct way, and we learn more quickly how much we need Him. A lot of us have been through significant difficulties this semester, I know the volleyball girls have. Hopefully, at this point we are able to look back on the semester and realize how much God had been teaching us the whole time. I can’t speak for everyone, but I know He is the best teacher I’ve ever had. Going back to the original question, would you be left with the events that may have shaped you more than anything else? As we are thankful this week for all the good things in our lives, let’s take a second to appreciate the not-so-obvious blessings as well.
Speaking of difficulties, our team experienced a very large one this weekend. After playing well against D&E we were defeated by Trevecca Nazarene in the G-MAC Championship match. This broke our streak of G-MAC championships and devastated us as a team. It was an unexpected and unwelcome turn of events, but I can say I think we will learn so much more from losing than if we would have been victorious. As I said previously, the Lord teaches us using methods that we aren’t always fond of, but His ways are higher than our ways. We will be able to come away from this season knowing that through the disappointment a better team will emerge next semester and next season. Above all else, we can walk away knowing that the most important part of our season, spreading the love of Christ and His gospel, was accomplished.
Thank you for reading my blogs this semester! I always enjoy writing about volleyball because it helps me reflect on how lucky I am to play the sport. Despite the ups and downs, it is a constant in my life that I will miss very much when it’s gone. God has taught me an endless amount of lessons this semester and I'm happy that I was able to share my thoughts with you. As I move from being a junior to a senior in the program, I look forward to the lessons that are still yet to come.
I pray that you will have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your loved ones followed by a white Christmas!
"For I know the plans I have for you…plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11
Nov. 18, 2015At this point, it doesn’t seem like the season will ever end. Our bodies are tired and we are emotionally drained. However, this is also the most exciting part of the season because we will determine how we stand at the finish line. Will we be G-MAC champs? Will we make it to the NCAA tournament? The hard work we have put in all season is set to pay off. When we look ahead to winning matches and taking home the trophy, we lose a little bit of our perspective. A great season at Cedarville - it is not determined by wins and losses. Instead, our season’s success is measured in the impact we made for His Kingdom. When we finish the season we can imagine standing at the throne of Christ. Hopefully we would be able to hear Him say, "well done, my good and faithful servant." This is what we strive for far above a winning record. This is what I love most about being a Yellow Jacket, and that’s what helps me make the push at the end of the season. Those last few matches that mean the most on paper are just a few more times where I can glorify the Lord with volleyball. Please pray that we will be able to keep that perspective throughout the last few matches!
This past week we were able to celebrate our two wonderful seniors Alyssa Barkley and Sarah Simpson. Both of them have made a huge impact on our team and this program, and I can’t believe that we have a very short time left with them! Thankfully, when volleyball ends friendship still continues, and I know that both of these girls will be with me going forward. After getting a W against Indiana East that night, we got set to travel to Wheeling, WV on Saturday. We faced Charleston for the second time this season, winning the match in four sets. Then we were able to put up a fight against the #6-ranked Wheeling Jesuit team. We did end up losing the match in three sets, but we worked hard and learned a few lessons while getting our butts kicked. All in all, Saturday was a day that prepared us for what we will face in the G-MAC tournament this weekend. We are ready to fight for the G-MAC title. #ForHim
Thanks for reading y’all, have a wonderful week!
Nov. 9, 2015One thing that God has been showing me this week is that, amidst trials, He continues to shower us with immeasurable blessings. The cool (and a little unfortunate) thing about this is that we don’t know about most of them until later. He gives us opportunities, learning experiences, and impactful conversations that we go through without knowing what meaning they will have in our future. I was in my D-group today with six wonderful girls and one of them shared her "life map" with us. So far three girls in our group have shared their life maps, which is their life story with their testimony mixed in. It’s amazing to see how they have pieced events together to show how God has been leading them throughout all of it. Certain events, trips, or even accidents have shaped them to be who they are, and in light of it they can be thankful for every one of those happenings. Going back to my original point of being blessed, this realization and expression of how thankful she was that God was always on her side moved me. It’s hard to be aware of God’s touch in times when you don’t think He’s there or times when you don’t want to feel it. To watch how He opens our eyes to see glimpses of His work is humbling more than anything else. My challenge to you this week is to start looking for God in places that you don’t think He is present. Trust me, He will open your eyes too, and those little glimpses are something you don’t want to miss.
This week in volleyball I was hit with the same emotion: that I am blessed. My body is tired and I’m constantly in a lot of pain, but being able to see how the Lord is shaping our team is worth every bit of hardship. We are finally all healthy and playing in a normal lineup once more. Abby and Krissy are both almost back to 100%, praise Him! I know how hard it is to be injured for any amount of time, and both of them handled it with grace…what amazing teammates I have! The next two weeks are a time of preparation for the G-MAC tournament which we have anxiously been awaiting all year. It’s our chance to show that Cedarville is still on top and to play at our highest level to prove it. Please be praying for us in this upcoming stretch that we would stay healthy, on top of our studies, and humble. All three of these things are a constant struggle, and I know we all need help! (Don’t worry Mom and Dad, everything is fine, but prayer can’t hurt…right? ;)) Thanks for reading and for your continued support as the season is winding down. Have a blessed week!
II Corinthians 4:8-9
"We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed."Nov. 3, 2015Something I have been pondering lately is the way we mark our time. It is a little weird to explain but we mark our time by what we deem important. For me, that means my time is in increments of seasons - volleyball seasons to be specific. When I remember an event, I remember it being in a specific season in my career. Like, when I think about the time that I tore my abdomen I consequently refer to the fall season of my sophomore year. What this says about me is that volleyball is one of my biggest commitments in my life.
My next thought about the issue of time compartmentalization was a little disturbing: why don’t I mark my time with points in my walk with Christ? This may seem abstract, but the more I think about it the more I can piece it together. Maybe I was in a volleyball season, but what was the Lord teaching or showing me at that point in time? What was I struggling with that He used to mold me into who I am today? How was I growing? What did I find in scripture that I had never seen before? These are the things I want to be thinking of when I want to date an event in my life. I don’t want to think about what I was doing, I want to think about what God was doing. So, even if I am in a volleyball season, I don’t want it to be about kills, errors, and percentages. I want to reflect on the conversations, prayers, and hardships that we endured to spread His love through a game we love. Now when I think about the tear in my abdomen I don’t think about it simply stopping my play. I think of the tear as a way my Father was showing me that I am more than just a volleyball player and my intrinsic value lies in Him and Him alone. I have to say, I like that perspective so much more.
Connecting these thoughts to what is taking place in our season can be summed up in one word: injuries. Abby Shelton just came off of an ankle sprain this past weekend that took her off the court for over a week. Krissy Pratt suffered a serious concussion last Tuesday that prevented her from even travelling with us this past weekend. Our lineup has been changed over and over to accommodate for the injuries we suffer, and we can’t help but ask God what He’s doing. As hard as it is to see His plan amidst the difficulties we face now, I can only hope that we would mark this time by what He will teach us throughout the rest of the season. Despite adversity, however, we won two five-set thrillers against Trevecca and KWC. One of our goals as a team this season is to not lose a fifth set, and we put ourselves to the test twice in less than 24 hours. I'm proud of my team because we never once showed a lack of confidence in our ability to win. We were down in the fifth sets both times and came back to win, which is extremely hard to do. I can only attribute these victories to the Lord allowing us to shine in crucial moments, which He often does when we have nothing left. Isaiah 40:29 says, "He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless." That verse is being made more real to me each day as the Lord continues to give me strength. I see this in my teammates as well and am so thankful that we serve a God who sympathizes with our weaknesses and helps us to overcome them.
Please be praying for the injuries on our team as well as back to back games this week - Tuesday home vs IU East and Wednesday at Ursuline. Also, a huge thanks to the parents that travel to places like Kentucky and Tennessee just to watch us play…you are such an incredible blessing to all of us! We love you all, have a wonderful week!
Oct. 27, 2015We started this week with a mental practice, which reminded me what mental preparedness can do in other areas of life as well. If we as Christians can equip ourselves with the word to use in every situation, we will be much more mentally prepared to handle difficulties the world throws our way. God has given us a guide to take advantage of, and often times we do not use it enough. In our team Bible studies every week I am encouraged to hear how God is working in the lives of my teammates and my coaches as well. Bible study with my team provides a reminder for me that God is with us at all times, on and off the court. He is working on our hearts and in our lives at every moment, whether we realize it at the time or not. Mentally, we are not always aware of what God is doing, but in retrospect we see that He has been active all along and is constantly preparing us for greater tests in store.
This past week we suffered a blow to our lineup with Abby Shelton spraining her ankle. This put her out for the entire weekend when we played Salem International and Ohio Valley. Adjusting to this change was definitely not easy as we have been playing with the same lineup for at least a month now. Although, we did our best to make it seem normal. We defeated Salem on Friday in three sets. We were surprised after the game when their girls handed us notes back after we gave them ours. It is always encouraging to receive something we give out after every game and to know that something so small can impact players so much. We drove another hour after that game to be in position to play OVU the following morning. After winning a tight first set, OVU gained some momentum that we did not counter, and we ended up losing our first conference game of the season. As much as this stinks, it definitely annihilates the idea that we are untouchable, which has manifested itself at least a little bit following three straight conference championships. We are ready to get back in the gym, work out some kinks, and come out against Bellarmine on Tuesday in Louisville with new fire.
God bless you all this week! Know that we appreciate your continual support and love. Go Jackets!
Oct. 20, 2015Last Tuesday we played Central State which is about 10 minutes up the road. Whenever we play them it is always a great reminder of why we actually play volleyball, and that is for the ministry of it. Interacting with the girls after the game and staying in contact with some over the weekend shows just how much impact we can have in such a short time with players. Even over the weekend in Chicago we could see the impact our Bibles and notes had on the other teams. One of our parents commented on how she had never seen a team rifle through the Bibles and notes as immediately as one of our opponents did this weekend. Our words and actions truly touch our competition, sometimes even more than our play.
Speaking of which, we had a tough go of it this weekend. The teams we played were powerful as well as smart, and throughout the game we could see their strategy unfolding. We are used to relying on our power to outplay our opponents, but this brought in a facet of the game we often leave untouched. Volleyball is more than a game of power hitters, it is a game of placement, finesse, angles, and intellect. Coach pointed out that the mental part of our game needs to improve, so practice Monday focused on that aspect. Hopefully we will have epiphanies as a team that will only make us better and help us move forward. We are so close to beating these teams and playing at a level that’s even a little higher than where we are at right now. There is just one last push we need to make to get to that point, figuring out what that push needs to be is the challenge.
What continues to impress me about our team is the unity we have. Each and every one of us on the team deals with something, whether it be family related or otherwise, and we continually encourage one another in those struggles. In Bible study this weekend Coach talked about wrestling with God, like Jacob did before he saw his brother for the first time in years. I’m sure there have been times when everyone has wrestled with God when it was unnecessary. In Jacob’s case, his fear was wasted as he and Esau were happily reunited after being separated. God has a plan for you, me, and this team, and someday we will be able to look back and see how all the pieces fit.
As we continue to have midterm exams and other large assignments this week, please be praying that we are able to budget our time and do our best for His glory. Have a great week!
Oct. 13, 2015Well the cat is out of the bag for those of you parents who didn’t know: WE HAD THE WEEKEND OFF! A few of the girls surprised their parents this weekend (if you’re feeling out of the loop here) after a few weeks of keeping the secret. Others of us aren’t great secret keepers, but we also went home to spend time with our loved ones. I think sometimes we take family for granted. While we are at school we often neglect calling or taking the time to let our parents know what’s going on. I can say that after every game I have gotten a text or call from my parents since my first game freshman year…and I didn’t even play! Do I appreciate that every time? On our team especially we have phenomenal parents. I don’t know anyone on the team who doesn’t have parents that genuinely love and support them. What’s more, they love and support the team. This group is exceedingly special, and to be able to spend some time making them happy this weekend was truly a joy. My weekend with my family included apple orchards and pumpkin carving in true fall fashion (as I’m sure others did as well). The Lord blessed us with great weather so we could do everything we planned. A few of my teammates actually didn’t get to go home but spent some time with friends and even went to the street fair in Yellow Springs! Needless to say, the three days off were well spent, Thanks Coach!
With that being said, after a few days of rest we are ready to get back in the gym. Last week we swept Ursuline, a very scrappy team, playing at a very high level. Coach was a little nervous to give us the weekend off because we were playing so well. On Tuesday we have an opportunity to minister to the Central State girls whom we have become good friends with over the years. We always enjoy taking the short trip to play and spend some time enjoying fellowship with the girls at Central State. Then we have a huge weekend coming up in Chicago. We leave Thursday to make the trip there and play some great competition. This will be a valuable test to see how far we have really come so far this season and an opportunity to show what we have been working on.
Also, as always, please be praying for us this week as we have exams, projects, and papers that all need to get done in between practices and classes. Pray that we can glorify Him in every area of our lives and continue to know Him more. Have a blessed week!
Oct. 5, 2015What does it mean to be "in the green"? Coach Teresa Clark spoke to our team about this topic on Saturday morning before playing Trevecca. Being in the green means you are able to move forward towards your goal. All systems are go and you’re feeling pretty unstoppable. The sad thing is that we are human, therefore being in the green all the time isn’t possible. Sometimes we fall into the yellow, or even the red state. Something Krissy Pratt occasionally says as a motivator in huddles is, "We are SIX strong." I love this statement, because all six players on the court are typically divided up in the green, yellow, and red zones. Each one of us has the ability to pick others up when we are in the green and to be picked up when in the yellow/red. Although on Tuesday night against Southern Indiana, we were truly six strong. We were all in the green, playing at a high level, and we accomplished something incredible. What was incredible about Tuesday night was not necessarily the win, but the way we won. As a team we trusted each other, we acknowledged great actions, and we surely glorified the Lord. It was a huge win for us and for Christ. We performed to our full potential and He was gracious enough to let us have that match.
The next day we were hyped. Everyone was telling us that they loved watching and complimenting us on our play. I let it soak in for a while. Volleyball had become fun to me once again and reflecting on how God got me there was pretty cool. Then it was time to focus on our next game. We practiced hard and then I went to work on a project with a friend, only to get a call from my mom. She had received her biopsy results and it turns out that she has breast cancer. I was shocked, because in my mind that wasn’t a possibility. God had just helped me overcome my struggle with volleyball, and now this? I thought I was going to be able to relax for just a little while before my next emotional battle. However, that’s not what God has in mind. His plan is perfect and I have to trust that. Isaiah 40:29 says, "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak."
These things are never easy to rationalize or to handle emotionally. This is where the volleyball team comes in. The girls and coaches came alongside me to help me get through the day, the practice, and ultimately the games this past weekend. I’m offered, in my opinion, the best support system in the world. We won both games this weekend against KWC and Trevecca, both big conference wins. The team is in great shape, both in a volleyball sense and a sense of togetherness. I am so proud of my teammates and proud to be a part of this tightly-knit unit. It is a privilege to know each and every one of them. We always appreciate prayer in every part of our lives, especially school as we are nearing the middle of the semester. Thanks for reading and I hope you all have a wonderful week!
Sept. 28, 2015How do you cope when something you love to do becomes something you have to do? That is what I, like many other college athletes, have been struggling with lately. God has distributed talents to us for a specific purpose. Furthermore, He provided a way for us to continue our athletic careers on the collegiate level. So then, why isn’t it always fun anymore? I think the main reason is that it’s just plain hard. It’s hard to constantly be pushing our bodies to the limit, to be sore, to be tired, and to always be on top of our game. Secondly, it’s stretching emotionally. Both winning and losing can take their toll. When we win it’s difficult not to become prideful and self-centered. When we lose it’s hard to not feel that weight on our shoulders or not to dwell on our mistakes. Thirdly, it can become incredibly stressful. When we have exams, group projects, friends, and a desire to sleep, practices and games seem to take up more time than usual. I guess the real question is then: what can we do to fix it? For that I’ve come up with a few solutions:
First and foremost, take it to the Lord. When going through these struggles I see the Lord pulling me to Himself. He wants to bring me peace in times of trial and take the burden off of my shoulders. All I need to do is let Him. Through reading His word and being in constant communication with Him I can feel that peace manifesting itself. Paul makes a great statement in II Corinthians 12:9, "He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me." It is true that when I am weak He is strong.
Another method that’s also helped me in conquering this feeling is simply gaining perspective on our purpose for playing. We don’t play for ourselves, but instead to spread the gospel and the love of Christ to our opponents. We also play for our teammate’s success. To perform at a high level as a team, we have to be thinking about the person next to us on the court instead of ourselves. With a team that loves each other as much as ours does, thinking of my teammates is one of the easier things to do.
Lastly, it is important to remember why we love the game. When I first started playing volleyball it was all I wanted to do. I’d be outside for hours just hitting the ball up against my garage until it was too dark to see. Even in college when I'm not in season I take every opportunity that I can to play volleyball. Every part of it excites me, from the strategic aspects to the physical performance. I absolutely love this game, sometimes I just forget.
I know I am not the only athlete that has ever dealt with this, and I most certainly am not the last. I hope what I had to say can be helpful for those of you trying to understand or for those struggling as well. As I’m coming out on the other side of the tunnel, we can begin to focus on what has happened and what is to come. Cedarville Volleyball is now 2-0 in the G-MAC! WOO! We managed to beat a scrappy Alderson Broaddus team in four sets and a tenacious D&E team in three. Abby Shelton also had a career high of 26 kills during our AB match…way to go Abby! These results plus a W from the Urbana game Tuesday puts our squad at 6-8. This coming week we have another set of three home games including USI, Kentucky Wesleyan, and Trevecca Nazarene. These will be tough matches, but we have been working hard in the gym to prepare. With a team like mine, we have the potential to do great things on the court this week. Please be praying that we are able to do our best this week and love what we do.
Have a great week!
Sept. 21, 2015Hey volleyball lovers! To start out on a fun note, I want to tell you a little bit about our pick-a-date we had this past weekend! For those of you who don’t know what a pick-a-date is, it’s a type of group date where, on our team, we upperclassmen with boyfriends setup our teammates with dates. [However we did accept suggestions as to who the girls wanted ;) ] We carved pumpkins, played games, and ended the night with a bonfire. I think we would all say that it was a ton of fun! This is one of the many ways we bond as a team outside of the gym.
Volleyball this week was a little more complex than planning a pick-a-date. We played at Malone on Tuesday and, as a team, we had an off night. In that match, our team was a little deeper and more skilled, meaning we should have won. However, a slew of unforced errors kept us from pulling it out. We came away with an L and whole lot of frustration. In practice the next day coach scratched the lineup and we made a few significant changes. We changed our court structure to a 5-1 with Kristin Cardwell being the only setter. We also put Tay Tay Wilkerson in the other middle spot when she had been the other right side hitter. The next two practices consisted of working out the kinks in our new lineup.
Friday night we entered the gym ready to play Charleston with nothing to lose. The crowd started to file in and we actually ran out of seats (hopefully they pull out the other set of bleachers for the next match) which brought some extra energy to our team. We completed the three-set sweep in fluid fashion. We were, for the first time in a while, truly playing like a team. I'm also going to add that Krissy Pratt put on a show with her top spin serve. She racked up 11 kills and 7 aces which are great numbers!
We host Urbana Tuesday night leading up to White-Out Night on Friday! Hopefully we can continue this level of play this week and continue to grow together as a team. More than that, it’s imperative we remember that we seek to glorify God in all that we do on and off the court.
Have a blessed week!
Sept. 15, 2015Hey Cedarville volleyball fans! It seems like forever since I gave an update, but I guess that’s what happens when you play nine matches in eight days! We have been travelling, bonding, learning, and worshipping together all by the grace of God. I am continually blessed by my sisters on this team, and I admire that they strive to bless everyone around them.
It may not be news to anyone reading this but WE HAD OUR FIRST HOME MATCH THIS PAST WEEK AND IT WAS SO AWESOME! We had almost 1,200 fans come out for the game against UIndy Tuesday night which created the most intense atmosphere. Huge shout out to that crowd. They gave an extra boost of energy that helped us clinch the match in a tight fifth set. I don’t remember ever having fans that were that enthusiastic and genuinely excited to cheer us to victory, but I am so thankful that they were able to do so!
After coming down from the high we experienced Tuesday, we began to prepare for the weekend. We knew it would be tough, similar to Northern Michigan, but were confident that we could contend. After arriving at the University of Findlay on Friday morning and taking a quick first set from Pitt-Johnstown we started to struggle. We dropped that match and another that afternoon to Mercyhurst. Both were games we could have won. It was like déjà vu after last weekend going through the same type of sequence. We had another long team meeting Saturday morning before going back to the gym, and once again started to play much better. We lost a heartbreaking match against Hillsdale and then another hard fought game against Findlay. Both teams were very talented and talking to them after the games showed that they were wonderful girls as well. Having the interactions after tough losses really helps us remember what our purpose in playing is, but it doesn’t make losing any easier. I can confidently say that we made an impact for His kingdom and that puts me at ease. I will also say, however, that we learned that we have a ways to go until we reach our full potential as a team. Thankfully God has a perfectly orchestrated plan for our season and all we have to do is trust Him.
Until next time!
#ForHim
Sept. 8, 2015Hey volleyball lovers! At this very moment I am on the last leg of our 11-hour journey home from Northern Michigan University. We are about to delay our arrival even more by stopping for food (again) but I know all of us are still, by some miracle, ravenous. We often forget the amount of food we have to consume in order to be adequately prepared for the next match.
When I am off the court solely watching my team I am continually amazed by the talents that they have been given. Even more than that, I am amazed at how they use those talents to bring glory to our Father. He allowed each of us to work hard this weekend, testing our bodies, skills, and wills against formidable opponents. For those of you who followed the games on Twitter or even streamed them live, you’re aware that the odds were not in our favor. For those of you that didn’t, I’ll let you in on the action.
Friday was a rough one. Before we arrived to NMU we were well aware that the gym wasn’t air conditioned. What we didn’t know was how hot it would actually feel. To illustrate this, the games that should have taken less than two hours took more because we were constantly mopping the floor after dives (or, in some cases, slides). On Friday we played Fort Hays State and Northern Michigan University, both of which are very good teams. However, we did not play with the confidence or style that usually allows us to come out on top. We lost both of those games in four sets. We were exhausted and frustrated knowing we could have performed better.
After a taxing day of volleyball, we took time to refocus and regain our composure. We decided what we most needed to improve upon was our level of confidence. Sometimes we forget that we are the team that has a target on our back and that, as a unit, we are hard to beat. This conversation stayed with us into Saturday. At 3 o’clock we came out with fire against Lake Superior State, ready to make a statement about our team that we had failed to make the previous day. Our attitudes made a huge difference, leading us to a 3-0 sweep. Then it was time to play Michigan Tech who was undefeated on the weekend. They were fast and unbelievably scrappy. It’s safe to say that their defense is the best I have seen in my college career. We lost 3-0 in an insanely close match, losing by two points each set. Personally I was proud to watch my team that game, not one of us gave up at any point in the match.
That leaves us at 1-3 for the weekend, definitely not our best outing statistically. Although, I think our true purpose of ministry was achieved. Throughout the weekend we received comment after comment about our Bibles, prayers, and notes for our opponents. I am also proud to say that we never failed to give the glory to our Creator. When put into perspective, the things we will remember about this past weekend are not the wins and losses (although they are important to us now). We will remember the impact we made for His kingdom and how much we enjoyed playing volleyball for our God. With that, we go into our first home game on Tuesday at 7PM against UIndy - AKA Free T-shirt Night!
Please be praying for our team as we go into another tough week of volleyball. Go Jackets!
Sept. 1, 2015Welcome to the official Cedarville women’s volleyball blog! We are at the start of a new season and I hope you are as excited as we are to kick it off. For those of you that are new to this blog page, we are so glad to have you! My name is Rachel Krikke and I am a junior middle hitter from Cleveland, Ohio. I am so thankful to be writing the blog for the second year in a row!
One thing to note about our team is that we are all over social media for our loyal fans! Our Twitter page (
@cedarvillevball), our Facebook page
https://www.facebook.com/cedarvillevolleyball?fref=ts, our new Periscope account (@cedarvillevball), and our Instagram (
@cedarvillevball) are all great ways to stay updated on the squad. Not to mention this blog, which I will update every week! Hopefully I will be able to convey how special this group of girls is to me and how great of a ministry opportunity we have in Cedarville volleyball.
With the addition of our five freshmen, the team consists of 13 extremely talented volleyballers from across the country. There’s a lot to look forward to on the court this year, but even more to anticipate off of it. God has already been working in our team since the spring season and we can’t wait to see what He has in store for the fall.
We have had two scrimmages in the past week that have been helping us work out the kinks in our lineup, and I think it is safe to say we are almost game-ready! This weekend marks our first tournament all the way in Marquette, Michigan [GO BUCKS!]. That being said, please be praying for us in our travels this season and for our success in spreading the gospel.
I can’t wait to share our experiences this season and I pray that God will give me the words to convey that our success depends entirely on Him.
If you ever have questions or just want to reach out, my email address is rachelkrikke@cedarville.edu.
Thanks for reading!
