Cedarville University Yellow Jackets

Matthew Willett made an immediate contribution as a starting pitcher upon transferring from nearby Sinclair Community College in Dayton.....finished 7-6 with a 5.56 earned run average in his first season as a Yellow Jacket.....led the staff with 79 1/3 innings pitched, 13 starts, and two shutouts.....tied for the team lead in appearances with 14.....struck out a season-high seven batters three times which included a 14-3 win at Clearwater Christian for his first victory.....blanked AMC foe Point Park, 8-0, on three hits with seven K’s.....tossed a complete-game three-hitter to edge Grace, 1-0, in the NCCAA Midwest Regional.....picked up an 8-5 decision over Oklahoma Wesleyan at the NCCAA National Tournament.....allowed just two hits in five innings of a 4-1 win at Ohio Dominican.....NAIA and NCCAA Scholar-Athlete.

2007-08 - Played two seasons at Sinclair Community College in Dayton.....earned scholar-athlete recognition.....played for the Niagara (N.Y.) Power in the NYCBL 2008 summer league.

High School - Four-year baseball letter winner at Xenia Nazarene Christian.....led team to state Christian high school title as a senior.....also played four years of basketball and one season of golf.

Personal - Dean’s List student as an exercise science major at Cedarville University.....born 4/15/87 in Dayton, OH.....son of Kenneth and Aleta Willett.....married wife, Erin, on August 7, 2009.....has two older sisters and a younger sister.
