Tyler Rost is a four-year player for the Yellow Jackets and will serve as one of three team captains.....CU’s most experienced player having played 160 games in his career with 146 starts.....a .330 career hitter, who batted .348 as a junior.....played in all 55 games with 50 starts in the outfield.....hit in the leadoff spot each he was in the starting line-up.....led the club with 42 runs scored, 40 walks, and seven sacrifice bunts.....totaled nine doubles with two triples and 26 RBI’s.....assembled a team-best 14-game hitting streak.....turned in ten two-hit games and five three-hit efforts.....tops on the team with a .556 batting average (5-for-9) with the bases loaded and with runners in scoring position with a .400 mark.....went 3-for-5 with a two-run double in a 9-5 win versus Indiana Wesleyan in the NCCAA Midwest Regional.....NCCAA Scholar-Athlete.....American Mideast Conference honorable mention.
2009 - Started all 59 games in which he played and batted leadoff every time out.....hit .319 with two homers, 21 runs batted in, and a team-high 17 stolen bases.....set school records for most walks (48) and most runs scored (44) in a single-season.....led the club with 20 multi-hit games.....had three five-game hitting streaks.....hammered both of his home runs in one game against Shawnee State.....recognized as AMC honorable mention.
2008 - Received valuable experience as a freshman.....played in 46 games with 37 starts.....team’s top returning hitter after batting .320 with 33 hits in 103 at bats.....registered nine multi-hit games including four three-hit performances.....went 5-for-7 with four RBI’s in a doubleheader sweep over Rio Grande.....had a 2-for-3 effort at NCAA Division I Valparaiso.....was 3-for-4 in a 7-6 win versus Wilmington.....All-NCCAA Midwest Region choice.
High School - Produced a four-sport career at Rootstown High School.....four-year letter winner on the baseball field.....named to the All-Portage Trail Conference Second Team as a senior and played in the PTC All-Star Game.....member of conference and district championship teams.....four-year letter winner in soccer and helped program to a pair of league titles.....earned All-PTC First Team and all-district honors.....played in the Northwest Ohio All-Star Game.....recognized as the 2005 PTC Player of the Year in soccer.....holds the school record for most goals in a game (6).....picked up three letters in basketball and two more in football.....achieved All-PTC and all-district honors in both sports.....National Honor Society student.
