Former Lady Jacket All-American Abby Shelton joins the volleyball staff as a graduate assistant coach.

The Sparta, Georgia product completed her decorated career with 1,342 kills and 149 service aces which ranks sixth all-time at CU. She sparked Cedarville to 89 victories including a 40-5 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

Shelton received the coveted G-MAC Female Collegiate Achievement Award for the 2016-17 academic year. She was also the conference nominee for the 2017 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

Shelton helped the Lady Jackets to three G-MAC championships during her career. The 2016 title carried with it the school’s first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional where they advanced to the semifinals after winning the opening match.

In 2015, the 5-foot-10 outside hitter was tabbed the NCCAA Susan R. Hellings Award recipient. She was voted to the NCCAA All-America First Team, the CCA Division II Midwest Region Second Team, and was the G-MAC Co-Player of the Year

Shelton was Vice President of CU’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee. She fulfilled an internship with Fellowship of Christian Athletes Volleyball in California during the summer of 2016.

Abby graduated in 2017 with a bachelor’s in sport business management and is currently pursuing a master’s degree at the University.
