NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Walsh got a miracle three-pointer to force overtime and then never trailed in the extra session to upset the foul-ridden and NAIA Division II #10 Lady Jackets, 79-76, to open the American Mideast Conference season.
Cedarville had an opportunity to seal the victory at the end of regulation, but the Cavaliers threw in a highly-contested trey just before the final buzzer to knot the score at 67-67.
Walsh scored first in OT and the Lady Jackets were within one point on four occasions. The visitors missed a desperation three-pointer at the end.
Aubrey Siemon finished with 18 points and 16 rebounds for the Lady Jackets, who had their four-game winning streak snapped to fall to 5-2. Alison Lemon had 16 points, Caitlyn Brooks tallied 12, and Rachel Hurley added 10.
The biggest stat of the night was the foul column. Cedarville was whistled for 23 fouls compared to 15 for Walsh. Three Lady Jackets, all starters, fouled out of the game while the hosts had none.
Cedarville had the rebounding edge, 50-47, and both teams committed 20 turnovers each. Walsh improved to 6-2. [STATS]
