Six Jackets earn scholar-athlete recognition

Ryan Chaney was one of six scholar-athletes on the Yellow Jacket men's soccer team.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Six members of the Cedarville University men’s soccer team have been recognized as NAIA and NCCAA Scholar-Athletes following the 2008 campaign.

Tyler Scott, a senior business finance major from Tiffin, Ohio, is the lone repeat selection. The other seniors are Jason Cunningham, a sport management major from Cedarville, Ohio; and Toby Dewhurst, a mechanical engineering major from Springfield, Ohio.

Three juniors earned the honor. The trio includes Ryan Chaney, a pastoral studies major from Cresaptown, Md.; Luke Griffith, a history major from Bloomington, Ind.; and Matt VandeKopple, a business finance major from Grand Rapids, Mich.

The NAIA Scholar-Athlete program recognizes juniors and seniors who maintain a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average. NCCAA Scholar-Athletes must carry a 3.40 minimum GPA. [2008 NAIA SCHOLAR-ATHLETES and NCCAA SCHOLAR-ATHLETES]
