EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - The Lady Jackets finished 13th at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championship with Nicole Santos, Lydia Wong, and Courtnie Merritt earning All-America honors on the final day of competition.
Santos wrapped up her stellar Cedarville career with a 4th-place showing in the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:15.62. It's the second time in three years for her to be an NAIA All-American in both the 5K and 10K in the same meet.
Wong was the runner-up in the 1,500 meters for All-America honors in the event for the second consecutive year. Her mark of 4:32.36 was just 0.21 seconds shy of her school record. Merritt placed 2nd in the high jump by clearing 5-feet 7-inches in her first appearance as a rookie.
Bethany Davies finished 8th in the 400 meter dash final, but set a new school record in the process. Her time of 55.30 seconds was faster than the 55.58 mark she posted earlier this spring.
Elsewhere, Elisabeth Pyles was 8th in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (11:01.96) and Brittany Simpson was 11th in the 5,000 meters (17:43.83). Alexa Winik placed 5th in her semifinal heat of the 200 meter dash in 25.28 seconds, but did not advance to the final. [COMPLETE RESULTS]
