CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Shannon Muldowney accomplished something on March 30, 2012 that no other Lady Jacket softball player has ever pulled off, before or since, which places her No. 9 on CU's Top 10 individual performances for '11-12.
Muldowney, a freshman third baseman from Orlando, Fla., slugged two home runs during a 10-2 win at Salem International in West Virginia. A first in Lady Jacket softball.
At first glance, it has to be an innocuous feat for the following reasons:
-
Cedarville has played fast pitch softball since 1985.
-
It was the program's 1,010th game to date and there have been 1,039 total through 2012.
-
There have been 190 women to appear in a Lady Jacket softball contest.
Considering those facts, certainly, someone had drilled two homers in the same contest especially considering the myriad of fields and conditions they've faced over the years. Nope.
It's also interesting to note that it's the only two home runs that Muldowney hit during the season. However, she currently stands alone with that single-game long ball record.
