The Courtyard Marriott Springfield Male Athlete of the Week (Jan. 5-11) is basketball player Branden Maughmer. The 6-foot-3 sophomore guard from Chillicothe, Ohio registered 28 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists and three steals in two road G-MAC games. Maughmer hit for a game-high 22 points with a team-best six assists against Findlay on Thursday, Jan. 9. He added six points and four boards at Walsh on Saturday, Jan. 11 in a contest streamed by ESPN3.
