PORTSMOUTH, Ohio - Junior guard Chris Beals found his shooting touch with five three-pointers and 18 points as NAIA Division II No. 7 Cedarville defeated Madonna, 81-65, to finish off a two-game sweep at the Shawnee State Classic.
The Yellow Jackets, who improved to 4-0 overall, surrendered the first field goal of the game, but they never trailed again after Beals drained back-to-back treys. Cedarville shot 57 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes for a 45-28 margin that swelled to as much as 20 in the second half.
Grant Walker scored 13 points and handed out a game-high six assists. Christopher Walker and Daniel Rose each scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds. The Jackets made 13-of-27 three-pointers for the game. [STATS]
