Cedarville beats Lakers down the stretch, 74-69

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Ricardo Alliman scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the NAIA Division II No. 7 Yellow Jackets to a 74-69 victory over Lake Superior State. Cedarville outscored the NCAA Division II Lakers 11-6 in the final 4:30 to pull out the win.

Adam Riehle broke a 63-63 tie, the eighth deadlock of the contest, with back-to-back lay-ups for a 67-63 advantage with 3:40 left. It gave the Jackets, 8-0 overall, the lead for good. CU put together a stretch of seven consecutive made free throws in the last 2:40 of the game to seal it.

Lake Superior State, 2-2, made seven of its first eight shots to sprint out to an 18-9 lead. Cedarville recovered and an 8-3 spurt to end the period gave the hosts a 38-33 margin at the intermission. The largest lead the Yellow Jackets enjoyed was 48-40 at the 14:40 mark.

It was the fifth double-double of the season for Alliman, who leads the team in scoring and rebounding. Matt Harner buried three three-pointers in the second half and finished with 13 points. Christopher Walker netted all 12 of his points in the first period, and Grant Walker was 7-for-7 at the line en route to 11 points and five assists. [STATS]
