Lady Jackets rout Cougars with late run

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Alison Lemon fired in 26 points and NAIA Division II No. 18 Cedarville scored the game's final 16 points to bury Saint Francis (Ind.), 70-47, in a non-conference contest played in the Callan Athletic Center.

The Lady Jackets have won five of their last six games to improve to 9-3 overall, but the battle was closer than the final would indicate. The visiting Cougars cut a double-digit deficit to 50-44 with 7:50 left. With the score standing at 54-47 at the 6:10 mark, Lemon started the decisive 16-0 run with back-to-back field goals.

Saint Francis, 8-8, jumped out to a 13-7 lead eight minutes into the contest. Lemon nailed a three-pointer to give CU the advantage for good, 19-17, with 4:30 remaining. A 14-3 spurt to end the frame created a 28-20 halftime margin for the hosts.

Lemon added seven rebounds, seven steals, and four assists to her performance. Rachel Hurley scored 12 points with seven boards, and Aubrey Siemon chipped in 11 points. Cedarville outrebounded the Cougars 47-38 and committed just 11 turnovers while forcing 19. [STATS]
