URBANA, Ohio - The NAIA Division II No. 17 Lady Jackets shot a sizzling 58 percent from the field in the second half and blew away Urbana with a decisive run for a 75-55 non-conference victory. The two teams meet again in the Callan Athletic Center in nine days.
Cedarville, 4-2 overall, watched a double-digit first-half lead and a 34-26 halftime advantage completely evaporate against the NCAA Division II Blue Knights. Urbana, 4-3, needed only 90 seconds into the second period to tie the game, 34-34.
The Lady Jackets held a scant 37-36 edge when freshman guard Kara Cayton nailed one of the team's 11 three-pointers. That sparked a 35-10 explosion that carried Cedarville to a 72-46 lead at the 4:45 mark. The streak included an eight-point run as well as two seven-point spurts.
Rachel Hurley flipped in 15 points to pace four players in double figures. Alison Lemon scored 12 points while Cayton and Aubrey Siemon chipped in 10 points each. Siemon was also good for a game-high nine rebounds. [STATS]
