Jackets too much for Wittenberg

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Chris Beals nailed six three-pointers and scored 20 points as the NAIA Division II No. 4 Yellow Jackets hammered Wittenberg, 80-53, in the Callan Athletic Center. Cedarville improved to 10-1 with the victory.

It was only the fifth win in 17 meetings with the NCAA Division III Tigers, but it was the most lopsided in Cedarville's favor following a 15-point decision last year. The Jackets appeared to be in complete control after scoring the first eight points of the contest.

Cedarville held the visitors to 27-percent shooting in the first half and enjoyed a 36-21 cushion at the break. A 25-4 explosion over a seven-minute span blew the game open to a 65-29 spread with 9:35 left. Wittenberg, 1-4, scored 10 of the last 12 points to account for the final.

Ricardo Alliman finished with 10 points. Brandon Sok and Daniel Rose came off the bench with nine points each while Derrick Hannon, who transferred to CU from Wittenberg, handed out a game-high seven assists. The Yellow Jackets committed just five turnovers in the game compared to 13 for Wittenberg. [STATS]
