Cedarville fails to put Cavs away in 74-70 setback

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The NAIA Division II No. 13 Lady Jackets allowed an 18-point second-half lead to slip through their fingers while absorbing their second straight upset loss in the Callan Athletic Center with a 74-70 decision at the hands of Walsh.

Cedarville was having its away against the visiting Cavaliers deep into the second period. Back-to-back three-pointers from Bayley Nosal and Lydia Miller gave the Jackets a 36-27 lead at the intermission. After a Jenna Smith lay-up with 13:50 to go in the game, the scoreboard blinked 50-32.

Trailing 65-59 at the 4:10 mark, Walsh turned things around with an 11-1 spurt aided by three consecutive treys and CU never recovered. The Jackets made just two field goals in the last eight minutes of the contest.

Alison Lemon totaled 18 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and three steals for Cedarville, 10-5 overall and 1-2 American Mideast Conference. Smith finished with 14 points and eight boards, Miller tallied 11 points with six assists, and Rachel Hurley chipped in 10 points. Walsh improves to 9-7 and 3-0 AMC. [STATS]
