CANTON, Ohio - Daniel Rose and Brandon Sok combined for 33 points off the bench to spark NAIA Division II No. 5 Cedarville to a 69-63 American Mideast Conference victory at Malone to give the Jackets their 20th win of the season.
CU labored the entire night on both ends of the floor. However, the defense held the Pioneers to just three points in the final four minutes to allow the Yellow Jackets to pull out their school-record 12th consecutive victory to improve to 20-1 overall and 5-0 AMC.
Matt Harner scored 15 of his 18 points in the first period to help Cedarville build a 37-31 halftime lead. After Malone rallied to tie the contest at 39-39, Sok took over with four three-pointers in a span of three-plus minutes to expand the margin to the largest it ever got at 53-43 at the 12:45 mark.
The Pioneers, shooting anything like a club ranking dead last out of 14 AMC teams in field goal percentage, hit 12 of their first 16 field goals in the second half to forge another tie at 55-55. This coming against a CU team that entered the game leading the country in field goal percentage defense.
Rose, who finished with 18 points and a game-high nine rebounds, gave the Yellow Jackets the lead for good with a free throw and scored eight of the team's final 14 points. Sok ended up hitting 5-of-7 from beyond the arc for 15 points. Malone, 5-14 and 1-2 AMC, became the first opponent to shoot over 50 percent against Cedarville this winter finishing with a .519 accuracy. [STATS]
