CANTON, Ohio - Alison Lemon scored 22 points and became the 17th Lady Jacket to reach 1,000 career points as Cedarville used its long range arsenal to defeat Malone, 84-68, in an American Mideast Conference contest. CU placed four players in double figures and knocked down a school-record 16 three-point baskets.
The Jackets, who upped their record to 12-5 overall and 3-2 AMC, buried seven treys in the first half for a 43-32 lead at the break. They hit nine more in the second half and needed every one of them to hold off the Pioneers' comeback bid.
Malone cut a 16-point deficit down to 68-64 with 5:50 to go when Cedarville turned to the three ball to get some breathing room. Bayley Nosal, Lemon, and Rachel Hurley hit three straight triples to key an 11-point spurt to ice the outcome.
Lemon was 6-for-10 from beyond the arc to go along with six rebounds and five assists. Freshmen guard Kara Cayton hit 4-of-5 threes for 12 points, Hurley added 11, and Lydia Miller netted 10 points with a game-high seven assists.
Cedarville ended up 16-for-32 from three-point territory and shot 53 percent from the field overall. Malone dips to 4-11 and 1-3 AMC. [STATS]
