CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Mount Vernon Nazarene withstood a pair of comebacks from NAIA Division II No. 18 Cedarville to post a 73-66 non-conference victory in the Callan Athletic Center.

This was a much different affair than the American Mideast Conference contest the two schools played 16 days earlier on MVNU's home court. The Lady Jackets blasted out to a 15-0 lead en route to an easy 77-62 win. In the re-match, the Cougars jumped to an 11-1 edge and led for all but 43 seconds to improve to 16-6 overall.

Cedarville, 14-6, bounced back to lead 16-15 after the rugged start, yet trailed 34-26 at the break. It was a 39-28 deficit early in the second half and CU used a 15-3 spurt for their only other advantage at 43-42 with 14:55 to go. The Jackets were within 62-59 with 1:55 on the clock, but MVNU scored the next eight points to put it out of reach.

Alison Lemon scored 21 points and Jenna Smith added 15. Aubrey Siemon tallied 11 points with a game-high 14 rebounds. After making 40 three-pointers in the previous three outings, Cedarville cooled off outside the arc by hitting just 3-of-18 treys. [STATS]
