CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Eric Newman scored the game's only goal and the Yellow Jacket defense held Grace in check for a 1-0 victory in an NCCAA Midwest Region semifinal match. Cedarville plays at Indiana Wesleyan in the region final.

CU controlled the play for the majority of the first half and finally broke through in the 27th minute. The ball was cleared out of a congested penalty area to the corner of the box where Newman collected it and lobbed it perfectly high over the Lancer defense just inside the far post. The unassisted score was his third goal of the season.

Kevin Bender was credited with just one save in goal, but it was an impressive one midway through the second half to preserve his seventh shutout of the campaign. The Yellow Jackets, 11-5-3 overall, outshot the visitors 14-7 overall and 9-1 in shots on goal.

A total of 45 fouls were whistled in the match. There were five yellow cards and one red shown as Cedarville was forced to play down a man for the final 19 minutes. Grace ends the season 8-9-1. [STATS]
