Cedarville recovers to down Point Park

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Aubrey Siemon tallied 20 points with 17 rebounds and the NAIA Division II No. 18 Lady Jackets overcame their worst shooting night of the season to defeat Point Park, 68-60, in an American Mideast Conference game contested before 1,894 in the Callan Athletic Center.

Cedarville suffered through 27.3 percent shooting from the field including a 3-for-24 three-point effort. However, the Jackets still had a 38-30 cushion at halftime.

An 18-4 uprising to start the second period gave the visiting Pioneers a 48-42 lead with 12:15 left. CU promptly erupted on a 23-4 explosion which included a run of 16 unanswered points in a six-minute span to regain command. It was the fourth victory in a row for the Lady Jackets, 18-7 overall and 9-3 AMC. Point Park dips to 10-12 and 4-9 AMC.

Siemon made 14-of-15 free throws as Cedarville outscored the Pioneers 29-10 at the charity stripe. Alison Lemon racked up 16 points, six steals, and five assists. Lydia Miller and Caitlyn Mauch came off the bench with 10 points each. [STATS]

After the game, the Lady Jackets honored seniors Bayley Nosal and Alisha Lee for their four-year careers. Both were granted starting assignments versus Point Park.

Nosal has played in all 123 games to date with over 500 career points. Lee, an NAIA and NCCAA Scholar-Athlete, has stepped in to appear in 92 games. Both players were members of the 2008 NCCAA national title team and previously played on a pair of NAIA national tournament squads.
