Jackets find a way to win at Wilberforce

WILBERFORCE, Ohio - Grant Walker scored 14 of his 16 points in the second half, including a key three-pointer late in the contest, as NAIA Division II No. 4 Cedarville pulled out a 70-63 American Mideast Conference victory at Greene County foe Wilberforce.

The Yellow Jackets never trailed the entire game, but they had to battle to hold off the pesky Bulldogs. A rare four-point play got Wilberforce within 61-60 at the 3:15 mark. A three-point play by Ricardo Alliman made it 64-60 with 2:55 left and it stayed that way until Walker drained the last of his four treys for a seven-point cushion with just 1:10 to go.

Cedarville, 23-3 overall and 8-1 AMC, scratched out as much as a nine-point lead in the first half leading up to a 31-27 edge at the break. Wilberforce got the game tied once, 33-33 early in the second half, but a three-pointer by Christopher Walker gave the Yellow Jackets the lead for good.

Grant Walker was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field, including four triples, and was 2-for-2 at the line. Christopher Walker and Matt Harner netted 12 points each with Daniel Rose providing 11 off the bench. CU made 10-of-19 three pointers and only turned the ball over seven times to the Bulldogs, who dropped to 9-13 and 1-6 AMC with their sixth loss in a row. [STATS]
