SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - Matt Harner netted 15 points and Daniel Rose turned aside a school-record 11 blocked shots as the NAIA Division II No. 4 Yellow Jackets shut down Notre Dame, 64-53, in an American Mideast Conference game.
The Yellow Jackets held a slim 25-24 edge at the intermission and it was a Rose dunk that broke the sixth and final tie early in the second half. That started a 16-6 flurry by Cedarville giving the visitors a 48-38 lead with 7:15 left. The largest margin that CU enjoyed was 54-42 at the 4:05 mark.
Rose finished with the rare double-double by scoring all 11 of his points in the second half. The 11 blocks eclipsed his previous school record of eight, but fell one short of the AMC single-game mark. The Yellow Jackets totaled 14 blocks as a team to surpass the old school mark of 12 set 22 seasons ago.
Chris Beals had 11 points and a game-high five assists for Cedarville, 24-3 overall and 9-1 AMC, while Ricardo Alliman chipped in 10 points. The host Falcons drop to 16-9 and 5-4 AMC. [STATS]
