Jackets fall to USF in NAIA first round

POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. - Sioux Falls dealt No. 3 seed Cedarville its first-ever first-round loss, 66-63, at the 18th Annual NAIA Division II National Tournament at Keeter Gymnasium.

The Yellow Jackets showed the effects of having not played in 18 days and struggled to 31 percent shooting in the first half and trailed 33-25. A ten-point deficit early in the second half was turned around to a 53-51 lead. It was 60-60 when the Cougars, who improved to 20-15 overall, scored six of the game's last nine points to grab the victory.

Ricardo Alliman piled up 19 points and 12 rebounds as Cedarville bows out with a 27-4 record. Christopher Walker tallied 11 points and Matt Harner netted 10. Daniel Rose had three blocked shots and finished with a single-season school record of 83 rejections.

Cedarville picked up the shooting with a 57 percent effort in the second half. However, the Jackets failed to advance to the second round for the first time in six national tournament appearances. [STATS]
