SIOUX CITY, Iowa - No. 4 seed Bethel (Ind.) bounced back from a big first-half deficit to defeat the No. 5 Lady Jackets, 67-63, in the first round of the 18th Annual NAIA Division II National Tournament at the Tyson Events Center.
Cedarville enjoyed a 33-20 lead with 4:30 left in the first period, but the Pilots finished with a 12-2 run to close within 35-32 by the intermission. It was tight for all of the second half and Bethel broke a 59-59 deadlock with five straight points to win in.
Alison Lemon totaled game-highs of 18 points and five assists for the Lady Jackets, who close the season 21-9 overall. Rachel Hurley scored 12 points, Aubrey Siemon had 10 points and 11 rebounds, and Jenna Smith produced nine points and 15 boards.
Cedarville made 10 three-pointers and matched the school record with 37 attempts. The Jackets also controlled the boards, 51-38. Bethel, the Mid-Central Conference regular season champions, improves to 23-8. [STATS]
