CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Denison put its lone shot on goal in the back of the net in the 97th minute to ruin Cedarville's 2009 season opener 1-0 in overtime.
It was a bitter pill to swallow for the Yellow Jackets, who dominated the majority of regulation play especially the first half.
CU outshot the Big Red 17-5 overall including a 12-1 bulge in the opening 45 minutes. However, the hosts were only able to place five shots on net in the contest.
Denison was awarded more corner kicks, 7-4, while the Jackets were whistled for more fouls, 11-9. Each side was shown one yellow card.
Denison continued its amazing mastery over Cedarville in a series dating back to 1964. The Big Red now has a 23-5-3 record against the Yellow Jackets. [STATS]
