CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Wilmington came up with a goal in the 89th minute to stun the Lady Jackets, 2-1, in a non-conference match played on the home turf.
The Quakers escaped with the win in what was their season opener despite being outplayed in the second half. Cedarville came away empty handed late in the match when beginning in the 78th minute two shots hit the crossbar and another went off the post in a span of 75 seconds.
Wilmington struck first in the 14th minute. The Lady Jackets, 1-2 overall, got the equalizer in the 23rd minute when Erin Landers hooked in a corner kick.
Wilmington finished with a 14-12 edge in shots overall and 7-5 in shots on goal. Freshman keeper Alysia Bennett tallied four saves. [STATS]
