Jackets sting Bryan on Twinem's late goal

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - James Twinem ripped a 30-yard shot into the top corner of the net in the 87th minute to give Cedarville a 2-1 victory over Bryan in the opening round of the Dave Jones Memorial Classic.

Stephen Schindler directed a pass to Twinem in the middle of the field who turned and laced a left-footed rocket high into the right upper 90. The Lions headed a ball off the cross bar with 40 seconds remaining before the Jackets were able to secure their third straight win.

Bryan had controlled the bulk of play in the second period. The Lions outshot CU, 11-6, but not one of their attempts were on goal.

The visitors struck first in the 37th minute when a 45-yard shot surprising ricocheted in off the right post. Cedarville equalized with just 37 seconds left in the half when Schindler collected a loose ball from 25 yards straight out front of the net and buried a hard shot for his first collegiate goal.

Bryan, 1-3 overall, finished with a 15-13 edge in overall shots, but it was the Yellow Jackets with an 8-1 margin in shots on goal. Cedarville, 3-1, was whistled for more than twice the fouls, 21-10, and each side was handed one yellow card each. [STATS]
