CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Lady Jackets got off to a great start in the Cedarville Invitational with a four-set win over Indiana-East, but then ended the night by getting swept by Saint Xavier.

CU avenged an early season loss to IU-East by defeating the Red Wolves 25-15, 25-23, 19-25, 25-20. Emily Shade hammered 17 kills while Kylee Husak added 12 kills and seven blocks.

A couple of freshmen were major contributors. Erica Bartholomew set up 42 assists with Heather Kirkpatrick coming through with 22 digs to go along with a perfect 29-for 29 effort on serve receive. [STATS]

Saint Xavier rebounded from a loss in its previous match to beat the Jackets 25-20, 25-18, 25-17. Cedarville dropped to 4-8 overall with the setback.

Husak and Shade were credited with eight kills apiece. Bartholomew had 26 assists and Kirkpatrick came up with 13 digs. [STATS]
