Watkins and Watkins give Jackets 2-0 win over Daemen

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Kelsey Watkins and Jaimie Watkins each scored goals as the Lady Jackets opened the American Mideast Conference season with a 2-0 victory against Daemen on the home turf.

Kelsey Watkins netted her third goal of the campaign in the 7th minute when she dribbled through the Wildcat defense, ended up with a one-on-one with the keeper, and drilled a hard shot into the back of the net. The tally came unassisted.

The sophomore forward set up the second goal of the match in the 64th minute when she collected a ball during a scramble in front of the Daemen goal and fed Jaimie Watkins, who finished off a shot from close range.

Cedarville, 3-3 overall, outshot the visitors 15-10 overall and 8-1 in shots on goal. Freshman keeper Alysia Bennett only had to make one save with the help of the back line paced by senior defender Lacie Condon. Daemen falls to 3-3 overall and 1-1 AMC. [STATS]
