CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Lady Jackets began their 2009-10 campaign with a 6-3 victory over NCAA Division II Tiffin at the Johnson-Murdoch Tennis Complex.
Meeting up with the Dragons marked the first time that Cedarville played a countable match in the fall since 1975. It didn't look too good following doubles with the hosts trailing, 2-1. The point came from the #3 pairing of Rachel Arthur and Melissa Stoltzfus by an 8-1 score.
The Lady Jackets were impressive in singles by winning five of the six matches. Joy Kellogg needed three sets to get the decision at the #1 spot 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. Newcomer and #2 Brooke Johnson was a 7-6, 6-4 victor.
Cedarville swept the bottom three spots in straight sets. Securing the points were #4 Georgiann McClure, 6-3, 6-1; #5 Stoltzfus, 6-2, 6-3; and #6 Arthur, 6-0, 6-0. [RESULTS]
