GROVE CITY, Pa. - Ryan Chaney broke a scoreless match with his first career goal and Cedarville finished it's two-game Pennsylvania road trip with a 2-0 win at Grove City.
Chaney, a high-scoring prep player with 145 goals who was converted to a defender at CU, gave the Yellow Jackets all they would need in the 64th minute. The tally by the senior co-captain was set up by Matt Niemiec.
Cedarville tacked on a much needed insurance goal in the 76th minute when a pair of freshmen hooked up. Ryan Thurman found the net on an assist from Tony Franco.
The Yellow Jackets, 2-1 overall, dominated the contest statistically with a 26-4 margin in overall shots and a 6-1 difference in shots on goal. Kevin Bender registered his ninth career shutout in goal making one save. [STATS]
James Twinem was voted Offensive MVP of the Westminster/Grove City Invitational while Tim Green was named Defensive MVP. Matt Niemiec and Jason Cunningham also earned spots on the 11-man all-tournament team.
