CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Mount Vernon Nazarene extended its winning streak to 16 in a row with a three-set decision at Cedarville in an American Mideast Conference match played on Dig Pink Night.
The Cougars posted a 25-18, 25-19, 25-22 victory in the Callan Athletic Center. MVNU improves to 33-2 overall and 7-0 AMC.
The first set was relatively close, but the visitors scored the final five points to clinch it. An 8-2 run midway through the second set sparked the Cougars before they impressively rallied from an 11-3 hole in the final set to ice it.
Lauren Gill buried 11 kills while Stephanie Rogers had 10 kills and six blocks for the Lady Jackets, 11-12 overall and 2-1 AMC. Kylee Husak chipped in seven kills.
Erica Bartholomew set up 32 assists and Heather Kirkpatrick had nine digs.
An attendance of 437 turned out on Dig Pink Night which was geared to help raise funds and awareness in the fight against breast cancer. The team sold pink t-shirts with the evening's proceeds going to the Side-Out Foundation.
