Malone turns tables on Jackets

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Malone threw a wrinkle into Dig Pink Night in the Callan Athletic Center by sweeping the Lady Jackets in three sets.

The Pioneers, who were swept on their court by Cedarville exactly four weeks ago, avenged that setback by scores of 25-20, 25-17, 26-24. They ran their winning streak to eight straight while improving to 19-7 overall.

Each of the first two sets were even in the early going with the first set tied at 11-11 and the second one deadlocked at 10-10 before Malone took over. There was never more than a three-point difference in the third set with the final tie at 24-24.

Amanda Bell pounded nine kills and committed just one error in 17 attempts for a .471 attack percentage to lead the Lady Jackets at the net. Hannah Wagner recorded seven kills and three blocks while Stephanie Rogers added six kills and three blocks.

Maddie Anderson finished with 14 assists for Cedarville, who drops to 15-13. Erica Bartholomew had 13 assists and Heather Kirkpatrick came up with 10 digs.

All proceeds from the match were marked to benefit the Side-Out Foundation and Dig Pink campaign. The program helps to raise funds and awareness in the fight against breast cancer.
