CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Cedarville ended a six-match homestand by playing Wilmington to a scoreless dual in two overtimes.
The outcome was the first time the Lady Jackets didn't lose to their local rival. They had dropped the previous five meetings including a 2-1 OT setback last fall.
After laboring through 90 minutes of regulation time, the two sides opened up to display their most exciting soccer in the two, 10-minute overtime periods.
Each team failed to cash in on some golden opportunites. None was greater than what Cedarville had inside of the final two minutes of the second OT.
Arianna Pepper's corner kick fell right to the foot of Sarah Brownfield. She attempted back-to-back shots from five yards away and both were denied off the line by a Quaker defender.
Wilmington, 4-5-3 overall, had the advantage in shots overall, 13-9, but CU had a slight edge in shots on goal, 5-4. The Jackets were whistled for more fouls, 23-14.
Christine Faulds posted her second straight shutout and made four saves. Cedarville is 4-4-2 on the season following its second 0-0 final this year and its fourth in the last two campaigns.
