CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Newcomer
Zimmy Nwogbo scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Cedarville to a 76-51 win over Roberts Wesleyan to begin the season in the Callan Athletic Center.
Nwogbo, a transfer from NCAA Division I Charleston Southern, produced the double-double in his Cedarville debut. He was joined in twin figures by
Austin Foote, who tallied 12 points, and by freshman
Marcus Reineke, who chipped in 11.
It was a balanced effort by the Yellow Jackets. All 11 players in uniform saw action and ten scored.
Cedarville trailed 4-2 early before ripping off 14 unanswered points in a span of just three minutes. The hosts led 40-28 at halftime and inflated the bulge to 62-34 midway through the second half.
The Yellow Jackets shot 61 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes and 51 percent for the game. They enjoyed a decisive 38-26 margin on the boards. Roberts Wesleyan falls to 2-1.
