WILBERFORCE, Ohio -
Austin Foote scored 23 points and
Zimmy Nwogbo added 20 to lead the Yellow Jackets to an impressive 96-87 victory at Central State in the final game of the CSU Classic.
Cedarville, 5-2 overall, shot 65 percent from the field to post a rare victory on the home court of their longtime Greene County rival. The Jackets also benefitted by hitting 8-of-13 three-pointers as well as 26-of-36 free throws.
CU squandered an 11-point lead late in the first half. A trey from
Daniel Kohavi just before the buzzer left the visitors with a 42-41 advantage.
The two teams traded leads early in the second period before Cedarville made its move. Trailing 47-46, the Jackets ran off nine straight points to take the lead for good.
Brian Hecker's triple with 11:30 to go produced CU's largest margin at 63-51. The Marauders crawled back to within three at the 4:15 mark, but Foote drained one of his three three-pointers from beyond the arc and the Jackets finished it from the free throw line.
Zach Brown tallied all of his points at the charity stripe by going 10-for-12. All 10 Yellow Jackets who saw action scored.
Central State dips to 5-3 with all three of its losses coming at home.
