CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Zach Brown tossed in a career-high 21 points and Cedarville overcame a sluggish start playing its first game in the Callan Athletic Center in nearly two months for an 84-69 victory over Notre Dame (Ohio).
The Yellow Jackets had not been on the home hardwood since hosting Salem International on Nov. 19. They closed out an 11-game road swing which featured dates against three NCAA Division II Top 10 foes as well as a Division I opponent with a 5-6 record.
CU stumbled out of the blocks to a 17-9 deficit against the visiting Falcons. Brown hit four straight three-pointers and finished the first half with 14 points to help the Yellow Jackets recover to take a 33-28 lead.
A 12-2 run to start the second period gave Cedarville some breathing room. NDC could never get the difference to single digits again even though they got as close as 74-64 with 2:45 left.
Brown distributed five assists for the Yellow Jackets, 9-6 overall.
Austin Foote netted 17 points,
Zimmy Nwogbo totaled a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds, and
Brian Grant chipped in 11 points.
Cedarville shot 57 percent from the floor and buried 11-of-19 three-pointers. The hosts also controlled the boards, 35-21. Notre Dame dips to 4-10.
