CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Central State scored the final 10 points to finish off a stunning second-half comeback and deal Cedarville its first home loss of the season, 84-80, in the Callan Athletic Center.
The Yellow Jackets appeared to be in good position leading 43-29 at the intermission and then scoring the first basket of the second half for a 16-point bulge.
It was still 76-65 with 5:45 to go and a
Brian Grant jumper made it 80-74 with 1:55 on the clock. Cedarville wouldn't score again missing three shots and committing two turnovers coming down the stretch.
Central State, 18-8 overall, made the comeback thanks to uncanny field goal shooting. The Marauders made 20-of-26 shots in the final half for 77 percent including their last six in a row and 11 of their last 13.
Zimmy Nwogbo finished with 21 points for the Yellow Jackets, 17-8. Grant had 19 points and eight rebounds while
Zach Brown and
Austin Foote tallied 14 points each.
Cedarville, who was allowing 57 points per game during its seven-game winning streak, surrendered 55 in the second half alone. The Jackets, now 10-1 at home this season, had won 14 straight in the Athletic Center dating back to last year.
