CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Zimmy Nwogbo scored 22 points and the Yellow Jackets scorched the nets with hot shooting to down Spring Arbor, 90-75, in the NCCAA Midwest Region title game played in the Callan Athletic Center.
Cedarville, 20-9 overall, returns to the NCCAA National Tournament for the first time in ten years. The event will be hosted by Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind. on March 14-17.
The Yellow Jackets scored the final 10 points of the first half for a 46-37 lead. The hosts made 18-of-26 shots for 69 percent in the second period to finish at 60 percent for the game. They also made 15-of-17 free throws.
Daniel Kohavi, who was 4-for-4 from beyond the arc, hit a three-pointer for a 71-53 bulge with 8:55 remaining. The Cougars closed the gap to seven, but
Marcus Reineke supplied a layup and a three-ball to push the difference back to 12 at the 2:30 mark.
Nwogbo made 9-of 13 shots which included a three-pointer and was 3-for-4 at the stripe. He added five rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Brian Grant tallied 18 points and four steals,
Daniel Hickman had 14 points with five assists, and Kohavi totaled 14 points. Spring Arbor ends the year at 18-14.
