Jon Earl and
Timmy Waller netted their first goals of the season as unbeaten Cedarville continued its recent winning ways over Malone with a 2-1 victory.
The Yellow Jackets knocked off their longtime rival for the 12th consecutive time despite another close match. Nine of the results during the streak have been decided by one goal.
Earl launched a 35-yarder that skipped past the Malone keeper in the 42nd minute for the first goal of the contest.
Jeremy Hoppe was credited with the assist.
The Pioneers leveled the match in the 63rd minute, but Waller answered less than two minutes later. He took a feed at the top of the box from
Eric Hoober, spun and drilled a shot in the upper corner to account for the final.
Cedarville, 3-0 overall, had the advantage in shots at 11-10 overall and 6-3 on goal. Malone was whistled for more fouls, 16-12, in what was the Pioneers' season opener.
