Box Score CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Great Midwest Athletic Conference favorite Davis & Elkins scored twice in a six-minute span in the first half and handed the Yellow Jackets their first league loss, 2-0.
The outcome was also the first home setback for Cedarville, 9-2-2 overall and 4-1 G-MAC.
The Senators, 6-4-1 and 4-1 G-MAC, netted what turned out to be the winner in the 29th minute. The insurance tally came in the 35th.
"I thought D&E fought hard tonight and did what they needed to do to get a result," said Interim Head Coach
Brett Faro. "We were a step off and made it hard for ourselves by digging a two-goal hole. Both goals came off our mistakes.
"Credit them for finishing their chances, but neither opportunity should have happened. I'm not sure if it was because we had already played two games this week or what, but we were too reactionary all night."
The final numbers had the Yellow Jackets with a 9-8 margin in overall shots while both teams managed five shots each on frame.
Surprisingly, there were minimal corner kicks with five total - D&E attempted all three of theirs in the first half while both of CU's came in the second.
Faro concluded by saying, "We just need to move forward and continue to improve. There are still a lot of games to play and we need to earn an opportunity to see them again down the road."
The Yellow Jackets hit the road twice this week beginning with a G-MAC contest at Salem International on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.
